I think it’s November. The weather the past week or two haven’t been indicative of the time of year we are currently in, but my calendar says November, which means Holiday season is around the corner.
Thanksgiving is earlier than usual this year, which means we need to start compiling our lists already. All those people that we need to send Holiday Gifts to as an expression of our appreciation. As a kosher consumer, I need to send a holiday gift basket that is kosher but doesn’t compromise on style or function. Kosher has come so far over the years, the stereotypical kosher gift package has been archived in the annals of history. Even for our customers that don’t eat strictly kosher themselves, sending a kosher gift basket ensures that all the recipients of your largesse will be able to partake. Your thoughtfulness will be appreciated!
Only Kosher Candy (www.onlykoshercandy.com) has rolled out their 2015 lineup of Kosher Gift Baskets, and it is worthy of strutting down the gift basket catwalks of the world.
Whether you need to dazzle your big clients, show appreciation to your staff, or send that obligatory gift basket to your bank you will find something for everyone at Only Kosher Candy.

Everything in Judaism is so steeped in symbolism. Many things that we practice by rote has deeply esoteric meaning. On the first night of Rosh Hashanah it is customary to greet each member of your household with the phrase in hebrew “For a good year may you be inscribed and sealed”. Friendship and brotherhood are very deep tenets of Judaism and especially so on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. The days of Rosh Hashanah have a special spiritual power and a unique holiness. In order to tap into this power, we need to open our hearts to be filled with brotherly love. This is hinted to in the root of the hebrew word Teruah (the sound described to the shofar blowing) and the root of the hebrew word for brotherhood – Rei’us. They both share the same hebrew root to allude to the fact that only with friendship and brotherhood in our hearts can the holy and cleansing effect of Rosh Hashanah be manifest.
With this new found insight into the power of friendship and its connection to Rosh Hashanah, we can now understand the significance of sending our loved ones and acquaintances a Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah Gift Basket. Only Kosher Candy (www.onlykoshercandy.com) has just rolled out their new line of breathtaking Rosh Hashanah Gift Baskets which are filled with all the traditional symbolic Jewish foods (which we discussed in last year’s Rosh Hashanah blog). Succulent red apples, gourmet honey and more.
Only Kosher Candy prides themselves on providing you with the finest products in their exclusively designed gifts. They only use top of the line honey from Savannah Bee Honey Company (https://savannahbee.com/) view their site for insights into their process of producing the finest honey in the country.

My girls are off to camp in 2 weeks. I have a love hate relationship with overnight camp. I love the fact that my children are in a great environment for a month of the LOOOOONG summer, but I hate the cost, and I hate the work entailed in getting them ready for camp. Another thing I hate is the expectations the campers have of receiving camp packages. That might sound weird coming from a blogger who writes for a candy company – but let’s face it, don’t we all want to buck that trend? Away with visiting day and away with camp care packages?! So I trudge to the local kosher candy store 2 days after send-off and spend tons more money on junk. Then I have to package it and go to the post office. Wait on an interminably long line. Pay another small fortune in shipping (of course it’s to two different camps, the kids can’t attend the same camp and make life simpler!). All this time and effort so that when the first weekend rolls around you kids aren’t the only ones in the bunk without proof that Mom and Dad really love them. Sigh.
So last summer I got smart. I went online in my air conditioned office to www.onlykoshercandy.com then I perused their extensive collection of kosher camp packages and with a click of my mouse they were on their way. Free shipping too on ALL camp packages! No trip to the kosher supermarket, no waiting in lines at the post office, and when I figured out the cost of what my camp packages used to cost me versus what I spent on the ready made and shipped variety, I didn’t end up spending any more money. A no brainer.
I want to highlight some of my favorite camp packages. The #1 reason why I chose these items were because of the rave reviews from my kids. What a statement when they walked from the camp office to their bunks bearing aloft their Sweet Cylinder Camp Pack. A clear 18” shipping cylinder filled with color coordinated candy that just begs to be shared with their friends. At only $24.50 including shipping, this Sweet Cylinder Camp Package is a budget friendly “I Love You Kids” statement.
My other fave is the Camp Flyer Candy Package. This turquoise Frisbee is packed with the chewy delights that kids just can’t get enough of. My daughter loved the fact that she had a Frisbee to throw around with her bunkmates.
The other show stopper camp package is the Fedora Camp Package. With an assortment of kosher candy packaged in an uber cool fedora, you are showing your style! Your child will love wearing this funky fedora around camp.
Enjoy the camp packages on display at www.onlykoshercandy.com and make your hot, tiresome, camp package shopping and shipping a thing of the past.
I hope your summer is relaxing and enjoyable. Stay cool!
I grew up with this ditty and now my kids are coming home singing it too:
“Dip the apple, in the honey, make a bracha loud and clear. L’Shana Tova Umetukah, Have a happy sweet new year!”
What is the significance of honey? What is the significance of an apple? Nothing in Judaism is “just because”. Every tradition has been honored through the generations and has deep meaning. We eat sweet foods to express our fervent desire that the new year should be sweet with goodness and happiness. We customarily refrain from sharp, bitter and sour foods to keep this theme of sweetness at the fore. The reason we specifically use the apple is quite deep and esoteric and a number of interesting reasons are brought down on Aish.com’s website (http://www.aish.com/h/hh/rh/guide/Apples_and_Honey.html)
Here at Only Kosher Candy (www.onlykoshercandy.com) we take the business of apples and honey very seriously. Wishing family and friends a happy Jewish new year shows our loved ones that we value our relationship and wish them only future goodness and happiness. This is portrayed with our selection of sweet holiday gift packages. I will highlight a few here in this blog, please visit our website for a full listing of Rosh Hashana gift baskets.

A year ago I was at the bank waiting for a customer service rep to be available. I felt like everyone was too busy to assist me. I waited forever, and the interaction was brusque and impersonal. I decided to do an experiment and sent a corporate gift basket to my local branch. I made sure to send a large size card prominently displayed in the front with my logo on it. I wanted to impress upon them that this was from me and my company. The only way to do that is with visuals. The next time I came in, I was treated like a visiting celebrity! “Hi Mr. X, how can we help you today?” there were lots of smiles and chatting and the experience was a complete turnaround from my prior experience. ‘Tis the season of gift giving. Businesses all over the world, regardless of religious affiliations, are sending out gift baskets and holiday packages to show that they value their business relationships with their customers and affiliates.
It’s an age old tradition, and relationships have been made and broken over this important custom.
So what do you do to make sure that the money you are spending on your corporate gifts is going to good use?
