Rosh Hashanah Symbolism
Everything in Judaism is so steeped in symbolism. Many things that we practice by rote has deeply esoteric meaning. On the first night of Rosh Hashanah it is customary to greet each member of your household with the phrase in hebrew “For a good year may you be inscribed and sealed”. Friendship and brotherhood are very deep tenets of Judaism and especially so on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. The days of Rosh Hashanah have a special spiritual power and a unique holiness. In order to tap into this power, we need to open our hearts to be filled with brotherly love. This is hinted to in the root of the hebrew word Teruah (the sound described to the shofar blowing) and the root of the hebrew word for brotherhood – Rei’us. Kosher Marshmallows
Today we are going to discuss a very important topic. Marshmallows. There is such a long and interesting history to this humble food. Did you know that marshmallows were originally made from the marshmallow plant? 
Yes, there is a real plant called marshmallow, its official name is Althaea officinalis. It was used in the treatment of sore throats.

Kosher Camp Packages
My girls are off to camp in 2 weeks. I have a love hate relationship with overnight camp. I love the fact that my children are in a great environment for a month of the LOOOOONG summer, but I hate the cost, and I hate the work entailed in getting them ready for camp. Spider Cupcakes
My daughter’s 4th birthday is this week, and I decided that I was in the mood of spider cupcakes. She wanted pink cupcakes with frosting. I don’t know why I was in the mood of spiders, but they came out so adorable, that she actually forgot about the pink frosted sprinkle theme and was very excited about her spider cupcakes.

Step 1:
Make your favorite chocolate cupcakes from any chocolate cake mix or chocolate cake recipe. Allow to cool.
Step2:

Chanukah Gelt Chocolate Coins
Chanukah, Hanukah, The Holiday of Lights…. Whatever you may call it, it’s right around the corner. On the night of November 27th we light the first candle and the traditional gift giving ceremony takes center stage. I don’t know about your houses, but my kids seem to think that Chanukah is all about gifts. On an idealistic level I would like them to understand the history and meaning and beauty behind the holiday. But let’s be realistic. They want presents. And their expectations get bigger and more ludicrous. My son asked me for a cotton candy machine. (huh?) Where is he gonna keep it? Upstairs in his room on his desk?! I can see my dentist liking this post…
He wants to invite the neighborhood over every afternoon for cotton candy. I nixed that request pretty fast. I suggested Monopoly instead. He just rolled his eyes. I guess I’m not staying current with what the kids nowadays find exciting!
